The other day I went to grab the mail and found this lucrative targeted spending offer for my American AAdvantage Aviator Red card that would award 15,000 miles! The offer seems pretty straight forward and extremely doable. Simply spend $500 in “new purchases” in each month of August, September, and October and receive 15,000 miles after successful completion. In the terms and conditions “new purchases” seemed to be defined as anything as long as the item / service wasn’t returned at any point.
As for who is eligible for it, I have no clue. The offer states it is not transferable and is only valid for the recipient of the letter. I rarely put spending on this card unless there is a nice bonus offer which does happen fairly often. I was previously targeted for 2x restaurants, and 1.5x on all purchases just in two separate offers just in the past year. While both those offers made me put a little bit more of spending on the Aviator Red card it wasn’t significant. However, with this offer I will definitely see that I complete it. Essentially this works out to 10x on all spending on $1500 spending over 3 months. Now that is lucrative… Also, my annual fee for this card comes due for in September which means another 10,000 miles and will probably result in my calling Barclays to see if there are any additional spending offers available. These random bonus offers alone make the Barclay Aviator card worth it to keep and just keep in mind this card is no longer available for new members as Citi is the only bank allowed to issue new American Airlines credit cards.
