Elite Airways has announced new nonstop routes from Rockford, IL (RFD) to Newark, NJ (EWR) and to Fort Collins, CO (FNL). The flights will only be operated on Thursday, Friday, and Monday and are set to begin in August, 2015. Flights will be on either a CRJ-200 or CRJ-700 that will seat between 50 – 70 passengers.
This is Elite Airways’ first attempt to market their own flights, previously they have only operated flights for other airlines such as Branson AirExpress. While it is always great to see a new airline start their own scheduled service I have my doubts on how long it will last. RFD to EWR could be quite successful as an alternative for northwest Chicago folks who want to visit New York City. On the other hand serving two alternative airports on the other route, RFD to FNL, could be harder to succeed. Right now they are hoping Woodward Inc a company based in Fort Collins, CO to help fill the plane. Best of luck to them!
