Today I was curious as to when Southwest’s Belize flights would be starting and I happened to stumble upon this page where it lists all the new routes for 2015. That is where I noticed 8 routes from Dallas that did not look familiar… The flights below have not been official announced by Southwest yet but are definitely bookable online past the August 9th date. As of this morning the flights do not even show up in Southwest’s route map.

August 9, 2015
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Boston Logan (BOS)
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Charlotte (CLT)
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Detroit (DTW)
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Omaha (OMA)
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Philadelphia (PHL)
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Pittsburgh (PIT)
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Raleigh/Durham (RDU)
one daily nonstop Dallas (Love Field) (DAL) – Salt Lake City (SLC)

While none of these new routes are particularly exciting unless you live in one of the cities they will add some great connecting options for everyone compliments of the expired Wright Amendment. These routes will cater more towards business travelers but you can check out the historic volume and pricing between these markets with my route analysis tool.

My biggest question is how will Southwest accommodate all these flights. They only have 18 gates at Dallas Love Field, and from my understanding the new gates received from United were already being put to use. So I assume some shorter flights would have to be cut.
